*ATTENTION ALL ATHLETES:

Due to the heightened security in and around Camp Pendleton Base in Oceanside, no pre-riding of the course will be allowed. Also, on race day, no spectators will be allowed on base, only athletes and race support vehicles. We understand that many athletes prefer to preview a bike course, but please understand that we are very fortunate to be able to use Camp Pendleton for the bike portion of the Ironman 70.3 California and ask that you respect the wishes of the base both prior to, and during, race day.

IMPORTANT BIKE COURSE NOTIFICATION:

There will be a NO PASSING / NO SPEEDING zone on the first long descent on Basilone Road (approx 39 to 40 miles into the bike course). The speed limit on this dangerous descent will be 25 miles per hour.

ANY RIDER SEEN PASSING OR DEEMED TO BE RIDING TOO FAST OR OUT OF CONTROL WILL BE DISQUALIFIED – NO EXCEPTIONS!

This descent will be well marked with blinking lights and signs. Volunteers will be shouting verbal reminders.

TURN BY TURNS
• Exit Transition 1 traveling south on N. Pacific Street
• Turn left on S. Harbor Drive
• S. Harbor Drive turns north and crosses Harbor Drive to enter Camp Pendleton at   the Del Mar Gate on Santa Fe Avenue
• Continue north on Santa Fe Avenue to B
• Turn right B Street
• Turn right on Harbor Road
• Turn right  on A Street / Wire Mountain Road
• Turn left on Vandegrift Boulevard
• Turn left on road behind Comissary
• Turn right on Lemon Grove Road
• Turn left on Vandegrift Boulevard
• Turn left on Stuart Mesa Road
• Turn right on Las Pulgas Canyon Road and proceed approximately 2-miles to turnaround
• Go west on Las Pulgas Canyon Road to the exit of Camp Pendleton at the Las Pulgas Gate
• Turn right on Old Pacific Coast Highway
• Proceed north on Old Pacific Coast Highway through San Onofre State Beach
• Bear left onto Trestles Bike Path
• Turn right on Cristianitos Road
• Enter Camp Pendleton and turn right on San Mateo Drive
• Turn left on Basilone Road
• Turn right on Vandegrift Boulevard
• Turn right on Lemon Grove Road
• Turn right on road behind Commissary
• Turn right on Vandegrift Boulevard
• Turn right on Wire Mountain Road
• Turn left on Harbor Road
• Turn left on B Street
• Turn left on Santa Fe Avenue to exit of Camp Pendleton at Del Mar Gate
• Cross Harbor Drive to Harbor Drive South
• Turn left on North Pacific Street Bridge
• Turn right on Breakwater Way and then left on The Strand
• Turn left up Surfrider Way
• Turn right on N. Pacific Street
• Turn left on Pierview Way and proceed into Transition 2
